 Frequently Asked Questions

Is It Safe To Light My Pool?

Pool lights offer the advantage of allowing you to swim in your pool during nighttime hours while also providing the option to modify the colour of your pool with LED lights, according to your liking. These lights, however, can create a sense of apprehension, due to the use of electricity right next to water - thankfully, Essential Pools can help calm your mind.

Pool lights, when installed correctly, are incredibly safe. When using modern, low voltage lights, the risk is virtually non-existent. It is important to ensure your lights are installed according to your manufacturer's instructions during your pools construction, to ensure the grounds and fail-safes are appropriately configured. If the lighting system is not installed correctly, your lights may still work, but they can pose a safety risk by allowing other electrical failures to reach your pool. Luckily, employing a licensed electrician to install your pool lighting allows you to mitigate this risk. Once appropriately installed, pool lights can enhance the safety of your pool by facilitating visibility during nighttime swimming and enabling you to keep a watchful eye on anyone in the pool after sunset. By ensuring the correct installation of pool lights, you can experience an array of advantages in terms of your swimming pool's safety and practicality.

If you want to use your after the sun has set, you could benefit from pool lights. If you'd like the professionals at Essential Pools to review your installation and ensure it is safe for you and your family, contact us on (02) 6552 4096.

Are There Solutions Available If I Can't Find Pool Salt?

Finding pool salt anywhere in Australia, let alone the Mid Coast Region, has become a rather complex challenge recently. The pool will be rendered unsafe for swimming without the required amount of pool salt, though, as bacteria and algae will begin to grow, and the extra work performed by your chlorinator may lead to damage occurring. Fortunately, Essential Pools, the leading pool store near Bungwhal, are the resident experts in pool salt, and we may be able to help you even if you cannot get your hands on enough pool salt for your pool. When you're looking for help with your pool, you can either complete our enquiry form, call our team on (02) 6552 4096, or visit the phenomenal Essential Pools team in-store.

There may be a few things that you can do to keep your pool safe even when you can't find your regular pool salt. Though regular pool salt may not be available, magnesium pool salt, a higher grade of pool salt when compared to typical pool salt, may be available. Magnesium salt can be processed into chlorine by most saltwater chlorinators, even though mineral pool systems are the normal use-case for magnesium pool salt. As an alternative option, you can conserve the chlorine your pool already has by using a pool cover to prevent the water from evaporating via a pool cover. Once you do manage to secure pool salt after an extended period, it is important that you test the pool water first before you add your regular dose of salt, as the required amount may have changed. With or without your regular pool salt, there are things you can do to keep your pool safe.
